Vertical <25

Presentation of the Vertical <25 Project. Award Ceremony and Screening of Vertical Videos

On September 15th, the 16th Edition of the PROYECTOR Festival hosts a very special event presenting the works from the Vertical <25 open call.

This year we launched the very first edition of #ProyectorVERTICAL25, aimed at young artists. We received a total of 8 proposals that met the requirements—and we want you to see them all! On September 15th, 2023, there will be a screening of all the submitted videos, followed by the announcement of the winner.

The artist whose work receives the highest audience rating will be awarded a 15-day artistic residency in Spain in 2024, with expenses covered up to €3,000. Their work will not only be exhibited in the next edition of the PROYECTOR Festival, but will also become part of the Hertzog Da Silva Collection.

Remember, you can vote for the winning piece of this edition until August 31st through this link.

The following artists’ works will be screened, and the award will be presented:

  1. LIMINAL ECHOES by Annelvy Drouet and Eiden Rubio
  2. Breve aproximación a los afectos by Florentino Vargas Marín
  3. Especies by Clara Ángel
  4. Canal 3 by Oriana Inagas
  5. Y-212 by Rodrigo Aguirre
  6. I do not count the time (+ other musings) by Alexis Parinas
  7. Melodía 4101 by Nuria Ballester
  8. Verano Naranja by Marina Paredes and Yacoun Marchante

During this event, we will also screen Reflashie by Santiago Carlini.

The Colombian visual artist Florentino Vargas Marín created the piece most highly valued by the audience and will receive a 15-day artistic residency in Spain in 2024, with expenses covered up to €3,000. His work was not only presented in the current edition of the PROYECTOR Festival, but will also become part of the Hertzog Da Silva Collection. In addition, the result of the residency will be showcased at the festival’s next edition in 2024.

In Breve aproximación a los afectos (“Brief Approach to Affections”), Vargas explores the materiality of film support. The images generated by the degradation of a fungus inoculated into a film strip suggest to him a brief approximation of what love might be.
