Nicolás Superby Aguirre (Santiago, 1979), is a filmmaker, visual artist and teacher. He studies at the Chilean Film School, Film Production and Artistic Direction at ESCAC, Barcelona and a Degree in Documentary Film at the Academia de Humanismo Cristiano. He has carried out a series of audiovisual works, where he works as Art Director, Photographer, Director and Editor, among which the series of videos «Recetario / Papeles Sádicos» (winner of the Altazor prize 2012) made together with the artist Juan Pablo Langlois stands out. ; videos exhibited in Chile and abroad, the documentary feature film «Isidora» and the experimental documentary short films «Andino» and H A I N. As Art Director he has made short films, feature films and animations among which «D-Construir», «La Iván’s Woman” and the feature film “Fever”. His works have participated in samples, exhibitions and festivals in Canada, USA, Australia, Argentina, Mexico, Colombia, Peru and Chile.

Currently, he works on archive projects where he links analog and digital techniques, generating crossovers between cinema and visual arts, and conducts art classes and workshops at different universities in the country. His most recent work has been linked to the family archive and the recovery of memory through the investigation of phantasmagoria.

He recently inaugurated the exhibition María y Los Espíritus at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chile, while he is working on his second feature called El Fantasma de María, an experimental documentary film, which is scheduled to be released in 2024.
