Autogestión

I remember that this piece was made after the Christmas market. After hundreds of people had passed through Espacio Tangente, it was time to put everything back in its place. Picking up, tidying and cleaning, tasks that we always do after every event. They don’t have the glamour of an inauguration, but they are just as important, if not more so.

I wanted to document this process to make the work involved in each activity a little more visible to the public. I don’t want to give myself importance by cleaning the floor, it is simply a sample of the work that my colleagues have been doing day by day for more than 20 years. As we are here: artists, technicians, assemblers, managers… and an endless number of jobs that arise with each event. I believe that self-management in the cultural sector means knowing a bit of everything, as sooner or later you will need it to get by.

Concessions aside, I like mopping the floor. Repetitive actions calm me down a lot and cleaning such a large and homogeneous space gives me incredible satisfaction. This is what I intend to transmit with the piece. A small allusion to structural cinema where the same movement is repeated all the time until the spectator is almost hypnotised.
