Simon Guiochet – Artista y Director OODAAQ
Simón Guiochet tiene una doble práctica. Realiza actuaciones burlescas que prueban el cuerpo del artista, y por otro lado, un cuestionamiento del medio del video. Experimentando cada una de ellas, estas dos partes a veces se intersecan en videos que liberan sus acciones absurdas de las restricciones de lo posible. Video – considerado como una imagen, como un marco, sino también como físico que la instalación – permite espacios y gestos que pertenecen a los ámbitos de la vida cotidiana y lo trivial poéticas de repetición. Podemos ver una analogía entre el personaje del artista y sus videos, ambos probados: uno físicamente, otros por manipulaciones digitales o analógicas.
En su trabajo, encontramos interés en la reubicación, ya sea física (por viaje y desplazamiento) o conceptual (por la descontextualización de objetos y gestos). Viajando constantemente el mundo, con un gusto particular por los territorios del fin del mundo (contexto isla, costa atlántica, países nórdicos), el artista experimenta en su vida y en sus vídeos un conocimiento práctico del espacio personal poética.

Simon Guiochet approaches art in two ways. He performs burlesque shows that test the artist’s body and question the medium of the video. Experimenting with each other, these two parts sometimes intersect in videos that free his absurd actions from the constraints of the possible. Video – considered as an image, as a frame, but also as a physical installation – allows for spaces and gestures that belong to the realms of everyday life and the trivial poetics of repetition. We can see an analogy between the character of the artist and his videos, both tested: one physically, others by digital or analogue manipulations.
In his work, we find an interest in relocation, whether physical (by travel and displacement) or conceptual (by the decontextualisation of objects and gestures). Constantly travelling the world, with a particular taste for remote territories (islands, the Atlantic coast, Nordic countries), the artist experiences in his life and his videos a practical knowledge of poetic personal space.
