Father’s Reason

The video work Father´s Reason is a conversation with a deer, which for me is a figure representing the tenderness and delicacy of love. The images are from the city of Nara, Japan, and are accompanied by the audio of a dialogue featuring my father and myself. A poem by Rumi (Chapter 13: ‘Recognizing Elegance – Father Reason’) closely coincides with my father’s argument: what you are looking for is inside you. This brings me to the figure of Greek mythology, Actaeon (Ἀκταίων) a hunter who turns out to be the deer he pursues.
