Isabel León (esp)
Artista, gestora independiente y docente. Licenciada en Bellas Artes por la Universidad Politécnica de Valencia y becada “Erasmus” en Atenas (Grecia) y “Promoe” en La Habana (Cuba). Master Oficial en Producción e Investigación en Arte de la Universidad de Granada. Su obra ha evolucionado desde la fotografía y el vídeo al arte de acción, práctica a la que se dedica desde el 2007 casi de manera exclusiva, participando numerosos festivales, encuentros de arte de acción y residencias nacionales e internacionales, en los que cabría destacar Marruecos, Canadá, Finlandia, Alemania y Noruega.
Isabel concibe la creación artística como un acto estrechamente ligado a la vida, por lo que sus obras necesitan ser sinceras y estar conectadas con sus experiencias personales y su cotidianidad. Le interesa lo mínimo y lo aparentemente insignificante, motor e inspiración de su trabajo, a menudo ligado a la memoria y los recuerdos, así como austero en cuanto a necesidades técnicas y materiales. Del arte de acción le interesa la interacción con el público y cómo éste contribuye a que la obra exista, siendo con frecuencia el protagonista de su trabajo. Le gusta el juego, los retos, el absurdo y el sinsentido, provocando situaciones o experiencias que le ayuden a dilatar fronteras personales.
Su pasión por la performance le empuja a organizar y promover la práctica y el acercamiento al arte de acción, coordinando el proyecto EXCHANGE Live Art junto con la artista Ana Matey, en el que investigan sobre la comunicación, tomando el arte de acción como herramienta principal. Actualmente su interés se centra en investigar la relación entre el arte de acción con otras disciplinas, dirigiendo su trabajo a experiencias compartidas con profesionales de distintos ámbitos y artistas, realizando trabajos colaborativos en los que llevar a cabo experiencias que le ofrecen la oportunidad de crecer y aprender.
Combina su práctica artística y la gestión con la docencia, impartiendo talleres en diferentes contextos e instituciones como centros de arte, universidades y espacios independientes.

Isabel León conceives artistic creation as an act closely linked to life, so that her works need to be sincere and be connected to her personal experiences and everyday life. She is interested in the little things, the seemingly insignificant; driving force and inspiration for her work, often linked to memory and memories, also austere in terms of technical and material needs. She is interested in performance art because its interaction with the public and how it contributes for the work to exist, making them the protagonist of her performances. She likes to play, challenges, absurdity and nonsense, causing situations or experiences that push her to dilate personal boundaries.
Her passion for performance art motivate her to organize and promote performance art´s practice, co-organizing the project EXCHANGE Live Art with artist Ana Matey, investigating on communication, taking action art as a basis of this research, making residences, laboratories and art meetings. Currently, this learning is related to the interest in investigating the relationship between performance art and other disciplines, both artistic and from the fields of science or the humanities, running her work to shared experiences with professionals from different areas as well as artists, developing collaborative works, “exchanges” or laboratories, caring out together wealthy projects, experiences that offers her the opportunity to experiment, grow and learn.
She combines her artistic and management activity with teaching, conducting workshops in different contexts and institutions, such us art centers, universities and independent spaces.
