Róisín Tapponi es comisaria de cine, programadora y escritora afincada en Londres. Es fundadora de Habibi Collective, un recurso abierto, archivo digital y plataforma para el cine de mujeres del suroeste de Asia y el norte de África; es la directora ejecutiva fundadora de Shasha, el primer servicio de transmisión independiente del mundo para el cine SWANA; y editora en jefe fundador de ART WORK Magazine, un sitio de investigación crítica para los trabajadores culturales. Tapponi ha dirigido seis festivales de cine, incluido el Festival de Cine Iraquí Independiente (IIFF), y ha comisariado exposiciones en instituciones como el Museo de Arte Moderno (MoMA; NYC), Sharjah Art Foundation (SAF; Sharjah) y MAAT (Lisboa), donde se encuentra actualmente muestra una exposición de imágenes en movimiento de seis meses, encargada por Art Jameel. Róisín Tapponi is a film curator, programmer and writer based in London. She is Founder of Habibi Collective, an open resource, digital archive and platform for women’s cinema from South-West Asia and North Africa; she is Founder CEO of Shasha, the world’s first independent streaming service for SWANA cinema; and Founder Editor-in-Chief of ART WORK Magazine, a site of critical inquiry for cultural workers. Tapponi has directed six film festivals including Independent Iraqi Film Festival (IIFF), and has curated exhibitions at institutions such as Museum of Modern Art (MoMA; NYC), Sharjah Art Foundation (SAF; Sharjah) and MAAT (Lisbon), where she is currently showing a six-month moving-image exhibition, commissioned by Art Jameel. Tapponi is a contributing writer at Frieze Magazine; she has delivered masterclasses at Locarno Film Festival (2021) and CPH:DOX (2021); she has lectured on cinema at Oxford University, Northwestern University, UC Berkeley and many more. She has recently been awarded the World-Leading PhD Scholarship in Art History hosted by St Andrews, to undertake research on feminism and immigration: documentary photography towards legal aid.
