Skin Film

We all wear skin, but for Deneb Martos‘s SKIN FILM, dancer Cecilia Gala dresses her skin in film that is then developed. Thus, the film/skin becomes light, light that is projected onto her own skin/screen in a second dressing accompanied, this time, by the clicks and hums, roars and hisses of the projector and its film, all sculpted in real time by sonic improviser Wade Matthews.

A play of light and shadow, of sonic and luminous movement, of presence and displacement, Skin Film combines corporeal, analogue and digital technologies to explore the materiality of the body and the creation of a virtual second skin, functioning as an act of political poetics in our time.
