Cecilia Gala
Artist, Dancing
España
Her work is rooted in listening.
For her, the body is a vehicle through which imagery simply passes. From there, dance arises as an act of flexibility, behavior produced by the body itself, with no name and no form.
Her undergraduate studies in Visual Arts and Contemporary Dance (Madrid) were followed by a Master’s in Advanced Theater Studies (University of La Rioja).
From Butoh, where her principal referent was Masaki Iwana, she drew the idea that to dance is to embody dreams. Her training and performances have taken her to Paris, Madrid, Berlin, Nice, Greece, Italy, Japan, etc. Recent work includes dancing at the Teatro Real, Teatros del Canal, la Casa Encendida, Matadero, la Neomudejar, the Grec Festival, the Vostell Museum, Tenri (Paris), Somos Gallery (Berlin), etc. Cecilia Gala also collaborates as teacher and performer at the Psicoballet de Maite León.
