In this work, a “Cello Suite No.2 in Minor,:I.Prelude” young violinist’s performance has been shot. While playing, her breathing and heart sound have been recorded.

We start watching a looping video which shows a close-up of the player’s face, and thanks to a motion detection system, the sound output varies depending on the spectator’s position in space: when there is no one in the room, Bach’s interpretation is heard; when the spectator gets closer, the sound of her breathing gets activated and so does her heart sound.

This work tries to enquire into how the sound affects our visual perception and how our perception can radically change. The sound is used as a scalpel which enables us to get literally into the woman’s interior. This piece is created because of the need to create a portrait of a musician located in a sound space. It is essential how the spectator’s perception varies depending on his position in the space; a fact which lets him be aware of his own presence as a fundamental element in the work. This comprises a performative aspect and a space consciousness that creates a sculptural nature.
