In Psofos

It is an artistic work structured in different stages with several Mexican talents that seeks a deep content progressively transformed with the interaction of its members, and that resulted in this multidisciplinary experiment. IN PSOFOS means within the sounds that we recognize. It is a leap to the interior; it is listening from the inside. It arises from the piece «Psofos» (composed for two percussionists and common objects), by Miguel Ángel Rivera Bénard. It was recorded by Ensamble Raga and produced by Pablo Todd of Manosanta Music. Later, the sound speech with fragments of «The Unforgivable Winter», a contemporary piece for acoustic guitar by Jacques Zafra. The next step was the integration of dance and video in order to expand and diversify the sensations of the work. The artist Tania Ximena and photographer Alejandro Palomino defined the visual idea, the aesthetics and the script through their interpretation of “Psofos”. to the sensations of the work: it is the historical place where dance and video were integrated. Seven dancers intervened Las Torres de Temixco by the architect Mathias Goeritz. The work stems from the need to explore feelings of intimacy and sensuality based on aesthetics. The sections of the work are distinguished from each other thanks to the variation of the objects used in each one; objects that produce air noises, various woods, glass and chains, clapping and stamping. The work started from the basic and essential to bring these objects closer to listening and create intimate sensations through the presence of noise. The Temixco Towers were a gift from Mathias Goeritz to his wife. It is a room (within a house) with seven irregular columns that represent intimacy. The intervention of the seven dancers makes the space vibrate with rituals of the individual, the couple and the community.
