The Best of Worlds is made up of a series of fragmented, distorted and often disconnected portraits that hide, under a supposed lightness, a certain existential tension inherent in a globalized and connected society.Under the visual game of the portrait and through the internal monologue of its inhabitants, we perceive the inherent pressures of an increasingly public and quantified self. The Best of Worlds is part of a series of works that explore the individual-society dichotomy, focusing specifically on the establishment and representation of one’s own identity within an increasingly technological, public and quantified society.Historically, the self-portrait, in all its manifestations (playful, narcissistic, introspective, critical…) has been available to only a few. Currently, this game of projection and analysis of the self is available to millions of people who portray themselves with such determination that the selfie has become one of the defining characteristics of our current society.The Best of Worlds is interested in questioning what happens when this obsession with the representation of the self, this game between the projected image and the desires of projection, is immersed in a society in constant quantification and with the firm and frantic need to save the day.
