Marina Abramović (Belgrade, Yugoslavia, November 30, 1946), is a Serbian artist dedicated to performance art who began her career in the early 1970s. Active for more than four decades, she has described herself as the “Godmother of Performance Art.” Abramović’s work explores the relationship between the artist and the audience, the limits of the body and the possibilities of the mind.
