Spain

Isidro López-Aparicio (iLA) was born in Santisteban del Puerto, Jaén, in 1967. He is of Galician, Murcian, and Alcarrian origins. He lives in Granada. He is a mixed-race Spaniard and a nomad by trade in the United Kingdom, Italy, and Finland.

An artist, university professor, and curator, his work, with a marked political and social character, is based on processes linked to contexts, triggering reflections and expressing himself through installations, new media, photography, drawing, action art, or any necessary resource, even when stripped of all physicality. The genesis of his artistic development, closely linked to his human commitment and his social and environmental activism, analyzes conflicts and the possibility of fostering new visions that help activate processes of transformation. This approach has led him to work on projects with a deep social commitment, both in Sudan and in Jordan on its border with Syria, as well as in prison spaces and working with social minorities.
