Born in 1988, Taiwan, Chia-Yun Wu is an artist and filmmaker. She received an MA degree in Visual Communication from the Royal College of Art in London and an MFA degree in Motion Pictures from the National Taiwan University of Arts in Taipei. Wu uses characters and plots to narrate the indescribable life stories and discuss the sense of belonging, freedom, and human condition, reflecting the turbulence under the peace and unveiling the unseeable nature of spirits. Her first film has been included in The European Independent Film Channel (France, 2015). She has exhibited internationally, including Proyector Festival de Videoarte (Spain, 2019), European Media Art Festival, (Germany, 2020), Rencontres Internationales Paris/Berlin (France, 2021), Fine Arts Film Festival (USA, 2022), London Short Film Festival (UK, 2022) amongst others.
