Ilaria Di Carlo (ita)
Ilaria Di Carlo es una artista visual que trabaja en los campos del cine, la escenografía, la instalación y las artes escénicas. Criada en Italia, se graduó con honores en Escenografía de la Academia de Bellas Artes de Roma y tiene una Maestría en Escenografía del prestigioso Central Saint Martin’s College of Art de Londres. Posteriormente estudió Producción de Cine Digital en el Instituto SAE de Berlín.
Su trabajo artístico actual se centra en imágenes en movimiento y películas experimentales que exploran el tema del viaje y el lenguaje de la identidad en relación o en contraste con el paisaje y la arquitectura. Sus películas son altamente visuales y estéticas, inspiradas en la influencia y el simbolismo de la escenografía.
Como directora de teatro, ha montado el espectáculo de duración Double/Act y el espectáculo de sitio específico Booloohoom – Nocturne I, vagamente basado en el Ulises de James Joyce. Su actuación The Black Book la inspiró a hacer su primer cortometraje, The Black Book of L. Su cortometraje The Divine Way ha ganado varios premios y se ha proyectado en festivales y galerías de todo el mundo, como en el Festival de Cortometrajes de Clermont-Ferrand, Teherán. Festival de Cortometrajes, Festival Tous Courts de Aix-en-Provence, Films de Femmes en Creteil y muchos otros.
Ha trabajado como diseñadora de escenografía, iluminación y vestuario para teatro y cine, y como actriz en el conjunto total de teatro de ficción radical de Vegard Vinge e Ida Müller desde 2011. También fue asistente de dirección de Vinge para la pieza 12 Spartenhaus, interpretada en la Volksbühne en 2013.
Vive y trabaja en Berlín.
Ilaria Di Carlo is a visual artist working in the fields of filmmaking, scenography, installation, and the performing arts. Raised in Italy, she graduated with honours in Scenography from the Fine Arts Academy in Rome and holds a Master in Scenography from the prestigious Central Saint Martin’s College of Art in London. She subsequently studied Digital Film Production at the SAE Institute of Berlin.
Her current artistic work focuses on moving images and experimental films that explore the theme of journey and the language of identity in relation or in contrast with landscape and architecture. Her films are highly visual and aesthetic, inspired by the influence and symbolism of the scenography.
As a theatre director, she has staged the durational performance Double/Act and the site-specific performance Booloohoom – Nocturne I, loosely based on James Joyce’s Ulysses. Her performance The Black Book inspired her to make her first short film, The Black Book of L. Her short film The Divine Way has won several awards and have been screened in festivals and galleries worldwide such as in Clermont-Ferrand Short Film Festival, Tehran Short Film Festival, Festival Tous Courts of Aix-en-Provence, Films de Femmes in Creteil and many others.
She has worked as a set, lighting, and costume designer for theatre and film, and as an actress in the total radical fiction theatre ensemble of Vegard Vinge & Ida Müller since 2011. She was also Vinge’s director assistant for the piece 12 Spartenhaus, performed at the Volksbühne in 2013.
She lives and works in Berlin.
