Y-212

Y-212 is a classroom performance that explores the mix between dreaming, waking and digital media. Through multiple screens, stimuli, games, memories, advertisements, I try to convey the feeling of dreaming in the year 2023. At the same time, to represent the capacity of not being able to concentrate on one single thing and to invoke nostalgia about the rapid passage of time. Two projectors were used for the dream content and a mobile phone and DSLR camera were used to record the audience and the live performance. Long takes, quick cuts, split screens and the synchronisation of recorded and ‘live’ are interspersed to play with the perception of time. This work was inspired by my own experience with sleep paralysis in which I had a future vision of myself making this performance.
