La voz digital

This video was born as a reflection after investigating how science and technology are developing robots and artificial intelligence in order to create new agents of digital aid. It seems that the famous and fictional digital voices of “Hal 9000” or “Her” are becoming real via Siri, Cortana or Alexa in our computers and smartphones. By observing how the fictional is becoming real, I reflect on the sexualisation of these technologies, that is to say, they are given a gender which obviously they aren’t born with, which is at the same time being imposed. As a consequence, most digital aid applications are labelled with the female gender. Through this video, Siri manifests itself as a voice and a body and narrates how it feels and what it thinks about the situation all artificial intelligences are facing. Agres, España, 1986.
