«Written on the wall» is essentially a report in video format of the actions taken by the US authorities with respect to handling Black Lives Matter Protests in the summer of 2020, following the murder of George Floyd at the end of May. The video begins and ends with images from Washington D.C. on the day after one of the first protests. There are no images from actual protests; I feel there is no need to employ visuals that have been and are still widely available. Instead, the soundtrack is essentially a «soundscape», the greater part of which originates in livestreams from protests in Washington and Portland. The rest is factual information resulting from following media reports and livestreams throughout the three summer months. The information is synthesized, together with some background, in visual form, but is essentially text, visually integrated into the images.
