Cantos de libertad

The work seeks to create an area of immersion, which is transmitted to the viewer, feel the experience, live the birds, are in tiny cages, the above is a popular practice carried out in some places of the Colombian Caribbean. The work allows you to experience the sensations from the point of view of these beings. Also, this practice is a great tradition in the culture and the collective imagination of people of the Caribbean coast, the point of inspiration for a vallenato (El Mochuelo), a piece of folklore that narrates the suffering of a Mochuelo (native bird) of Montes de María) to give joy to a woman, as a gift and a sign of affection from her suitor. The work is composed of 360 immersive videos that record different landscapes of Cartagena (city of the Colombian Caribbean) seen from a cage (projected from some glasses vr), an electroacoustic composition created from songs of Meriñe or old rosita, mare tomb, backpacks and canaries reproduced in surround speakers in artisan cages and a live activation through a set with accordion by Lil Letona.

This work was presented in October 2018 at the MAMU Museum of Art of the Bank of the Republic of Bogotá, within the framework of the exhibition Polysemy.
