THEREDOOM began its activity in the year 2000 in the city of Barcelona, operating in two spaces: the first located next to the MACBA, and the second—a 1,000-square-meter venue—in the Olympic Village. Later, starting in 2006, it expanded to New York City, collaborating with major museums and public and private art institutions. In 2014, it opened a new space in Madrid with the intention of continuing its work, supported by a team deeply committed to its mission and operating across the three cities.

As a cultural manager and promoter, and with a consistent multidisciplinary approach, THEREDOOM has developed projects related to contemporary arts without interruption: exhibitions, international performance cycles and gatherings, readings, book and magazine publishing, contemporary music concerts, and more—seeking to integrate the wide field of existing possibilities within the subjective boundaries of art. From the outset, it has been committed to works that reflect an attitude and background of engagement with social realities, encouraging their reexamination and fostering a critical stance in viewers.

On June 26, 2014, THEREDOOM opened its Madrid space with the aim of presenting both national and international artists. Among the former, it showcases artists with established careers as well as emerging proposals; among the latter, THEREDOOM is dedicated to presenting “seminal artists”—major creators who have, in one way or another, charted new paths, shaped artistic movements, or played an essential role in the development of artistic disciplines and trends.

PROYECTOR 2018

El Festival PROYECTOR tuvo lugar del 12 al 23 septiembre de 2018 en 15 sedes de Madrid. Los comisariados de esta edición se mostrarán durante todo el año en otras ciudades de España, Italia, Portugal, México, Francia, Colombia, Perú, Marruecos…

La programación incluye tanto a los artistas elegidos por convocatoria como a los invitados directamente por el propio festival: figuras clave nacionales e internacionales que tienen la capacidad de redefinir constantemente los límites del videoarte que se inició en los años 60 del siglo XX. Todo ello a través de una muestra de videoinstalaciones (monocanal, multicanal, interactivas), intervenciones y proyecciones en espacios privados y públicos, sin olvidar el impacto socio-cultural que implica proyectar en la calle.

Tenemos el compromiso de profesionalizar el sector, dar más y nuevas oportunidades a nuestros artistas, crear vínculos con instituciones, comisarios y coleccionistas. En esta edición contaremos con varios profesionales destacados: Gary Hill, Pancho López, Alfredo Hertzog, Tania Pardo…

Contó con unas 33.300 visitas y unos 600.000 interacciones en RRSS.

PROYECTOR es un punto de encuentro, de debate público y político, de contienda, de empoderamiento ciudadano a través del videoarte.
