Espacio Labruc

labruc was a small space for creation, experimentation, and research in the performing arts, located in the Madrid neighborhood of Malasaña.

labruc was a reflection of contemporary creation in the performing arts—not only in Madrid, but also of the work being produced throughout the rest of Spain and internationally.

labruc focused its activity on the curatorship of performing and visual arts, serving as a platform for the exhibition of small-format pieces, performance works, acoustic concerts, contemporary dance, and any other artistic expression.

labruc also championed education for children through art, offering various activities: theatre pieces, creation labs, English-learning workshops, acoustic concerts, and more activities that were gradually incorporated into the project.

labruc hosted a permanent training laboratory for actors, while also supporting actor training across different disciplines and processes, remaining open to collaboration with artists and audiences alike.

It maintained an open call for projects throughout the life of the initiative:

– Curatorship of performance pieces
– Co-production grants
– Residency grants
– A stable circuit for companies
– A meeting point for advice and exchange among artists

This project was led by cultural managers Eva Caballero and Ángel Málaga.
