Tianhui Wu
Artist
Tianhui Wu is a Hainanese artist filmmaker who works with moving image, documentary, analogue film, archival footage and dialect, exploring political silence in China. Tianhui’s works examine the body as a site of politics: how it is shaped and disciplined by the power structures of Chinese society, and how it is rewarded or punished under conditions of rapid economic growth in East Asia. By incorporating personal memories and dreams under the collective trauma, she examines historical and contemporary perspectives on Chinese minority ethnic identity, memory, and resistance.
