Max Hilsamer is an artist and filmmaker based in Berlin. He studied Fine Arts and Experimental Film at the Berlin University of the Arts and Parsons School of Design in New York. His work spans video installations, photographic series, video essays and music videos. His practice is shaped by an ongoing interest in the relationship between cinema and space. A central aspect of his work focuses on the use of archives and on the materiality of media itself.

His artistic work has been presented, among other venues and festivals, at HAUNT Berlin and the FILE Media Arts Festival in São Paulo. His film Schauhaus, made in collaboration with Anna Lauenstein, has been screened at international festivals including DOK Leipzig, Vienna Shorts and the Max Ophüls Preis Film Festival.
