Marina Camargo is a visual artist. A notion of displacement permeates the artist’s thought and work. Both the sense of physical displacement (marked by the relationship with spaces and places) and the conceptual one appear as strategies to provoke disturbances in an established world order. Cartographic, historical and geographic references are usually present in your research.

Marina Camargo (born in Maceió) studied in Porto Alegre, where she completed her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Visual Arts at the Institute of Arts of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS). From the early years, her research has been marked by an expanded notion of drawing, in which image and thought mutually constitute each other and, thus, structure the work process itself. Topics related to cartography began to interest her during her stay in Barcelona (where she studied Visual Culture at the University of Barcelona, Spain), when the sense of physical displacement became recurrent in her work. In 2010, Marina Camargo received a DAAD scholarship to study with Peter Kogler at the Akademie der Bildenden Künste in Munich, where she later completed her training. During this period, her work focused on themes related to specific places, exploring different dimensions of the landscape and the representation of places (such as the Alpine mountains, the Pampean region and the Sert<2MASCULINE>es do Brasil).

The artist’s works are part of the collections of the Museo de Arte de Rio (MAR), Museo de Arte de Rio Grande do Sul (MARGS), Centro Cultural de São Paulo (CCSP), Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Rio Grande do Sul ( MAC-RS), among others.
