Annegien van Doorn was born in The Netherlands and graduated from the photography department at St. Joost Art Academy Breda in 2004, followed by an MFA programme at the University of Barcelona from 2006 until 2008.

Her work has been shown in solo exhibitions at FOAM museum, MONA Detroit,Youkobo Art Space in Tokyo and C&H Gallery and Melkweg Expo in Amsterdam. She has also participated in a number of group shows in Himalaya Museum Shanghai, Le Botanique Brussels, Three Shadows Photography Arts Center Beijing and at Les Recontres de la Photographie Festival in Arles.

Annegien van Doorn is constantly looking for encounters with everyday objects that are present in life. These objects are normally used and forgotten, as throw away things. However, through Van Doorn’s photographic and video work, we recognise new meanings and functions that she attributes to these ordinary objects, making us more aware of their existence.
