P.L.A.T. Experiences: Super 8

In 1973, his daughter María José and his son-in-law Gonzalo Sáenz de Buruaga gave him what would become his last laboratory. Freed from administrative obligations and with his own space and resources to develop his techniques, he put into practice what would be his most visionary creation: the PICTO LUMÍNICA AUDIO TACTIL.

In this final stage, he experimented with lasers and Bionic Optics, which he had presented at the UNIATEC Congress in Moscow in 1976. With this technique, Val del Omar made the viewer move around the images, optically distorting them. He also created the Tetrascopio Plat—a projection technique between still and sequential images—generating a universe of images and sounds, all manipulated through the “Mesa Truca” also invented by him.

The result was hundreds of diakinas and tetrakinas, recordings of “beaten” sounds, and Super 8 films, among them the delicate Variations on a Granada.
