Rubén Turba
Artist, Music
Spain
He began his musical practice in 2006 by participating in the performance of A House Full of Music by John Cage in Madrid. In 2011, he co-founded the collective Madam, through which he has collaborated with musicians from the Wandelweiser collective (Antoine Beuger, Radu Malfatti, Michael Pisaro), as well as with other artists from that circle (Taku Sugimoto, Minami Saeki, Johnny Chang, Diatribes, among others). With the Madam collective, he released two albums on Edition Wandelweiser Records (Sometimes, by Michael Pisaro, 2017, and … of Being Numerous, by Antoine Beuger, 2019).
A contributor to various specialized media outlets (Oro Molido, Ars Sonora on RNE Clásica), his main interests lie in collective improvisation, certain approaches to composition, the relationship between music and stage, and ultimately in musical praxis as a form of political and communal expression.
