Welcome to the first world, a promise shining on the horizon. An attempt to invite you to dive into the 1,35m deep blue ocean. Fake waves and cultured rainforest, a promise of authenticity in a fictive wilderness. The biggest indoor-rainforest of the world „Tropical Islands“ is located in Brandenburg, in the heart of the former GDR. The interview- and filmfootage for this film was shot in the vacation park to research on oversea experiences and the social and economical aspects they represent. The conversations query the relationship of work and fear and the insatiable desire for safety.
