Following the structure of a typology of islands, Vestiges (an archipelago) is a video essay that investigates the insatiable demand for sand, the world’s most used natural resource after water. It is a narrative and poetic labyrinth where colonialism, dredging and «soil recovery» projects intersect and where it is explaining how the sand is tangled in the global machine that we call progress and that relentlessly dictates how it is shaped to landscapes, natural resources and geo-political values.
