Patricio Ponce Garaicoa was born in Quito, Ecuador, in 1963.

He is a visual artist with a degree in Visual Arts with a major in painting from the Central University of Ecuador. His artistic work uses painting, drawing, sculpture, engraving, objects, photography and performance as language.

He has made 10 individual exhibitions and has participated in various group exhibitions in different spaces nationally and internationally such as: El Pobre Diablo, Galería Madeleine Hollander, Galería Menache (Mexico City), Local Project (New York), Museo del Chapo (Ciudad de México), Benjamín Carrión Cultural Center, Camilo Egas Museum, Process Room, Metropolitan Cultural Center, MAAC Anthropological and Contemporary Art Museum, Quito Contemporary Art Center, Cumandá Urban Park. He has participated in the III and VII Cuenca International Biennial. He was awarded the third prize and first prize at the Salón de Julio (1998 and 2013), an honorable mention from the Salón Mariano Aguilera (2003) and the award from the National Art Room of the Museum of Modern Art of Cuenca (2001), among other recognitions .

He was part of the Colectivos La Banda Mota, Los Académicos and the band Bipolares Ecuador, as well as the House of Cultural Practices S1-90. He was a teacher in the Visual Arts Career at the Central University of Ecuador and has given several workshops inside and outside of Quito.
