María Papi is a multidisciplinary audiovisual creator from Argentina, working across documentary, experimental film, and video art. She is also a director for television and web series. As a freelance professional, she works in both production (direction, screenwriting, camera) and postproduction (editing, montage, postproduction coordination) for a wide range of formats: cinema, television, online content, institutional videos, audiovisual design for live performances, and music videos.

She is a founding board member of MUA – Mujeres Audiovisuales, a nonprofit organization in Argentina that supports women in the audiovisual industry. Her work has been featured at international film festivals, art museums, and cultural institutions worldwide.

She received the Best Director Award at the Toronto Alternative Film Festival (AltFF) in 2017, among other accolades. Her video art is part of the permanent collection of MACVAC (Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Villafamés, Spain).

Since 2006, she has been active as a speaker, workshop leader, and presenter at universities, art congresses, and festivals. She is also part of the research group “Deconstructing the Gaze” within MUA and regularly participates as a curator and jury member at national film and video festivals.
