Kristina Paustian (born in Omsk, RU, lives in Berlin)

examines cultural anthropological and socio- political topics in her works. Her films are characterized by a strong visual signature and her video works are often executed in planned sequences. For her first documentary Swimmers / Zaplyv (2015, 77 min.) she received the ARTE Documentary Film Award for the best film, and in 2017 she was part of the Berlinale Talents program. For the development of her debut feature film Timekeeper she received the Elsa Neumann and the scholarship of the Robert Bosch fund. Her film essay Sleep is funded by the Berlin Senate Department for Culture and Europe.

Paustian is co-founder of the Media Art Association (mkv) for the promotion of contemporary art with new media dedicated to the development of experimental narrative and exhibition formats.

Paustian’s work has exhibited at Les Rencontres Internationales, Arsenal Berlin, Visions du Reel, Torino International Film Festival, European Media Festival Osnabrück, Odessa Biennale, Tashkent Biennale, and more.
