Julieta Averbuj (Barcelona, 1986) is a visual artist and curator with a background in the field of cinema. She holds a degree in Film Directing from the Universidad del Cine in Buenos Aires and has carried out curatorial and film production work in various countries, including Peru, Argentina, and the United States. She currently works as production coordinator at the prestigious Ibero-American publishing house RM.
With a strong inclination toward experimentation with image and narrative, her artistic career has focused on exploring themes such as the construction of memory, the degradation of time, and the fear of oblivion.
In 2022, she reached a significant milestone with the publication of her first photobook, El juego de la madalena, supported by the publishers Fuego Books and Cuadernos de Kursala. This work was selected by PHotoEspaña as a nominee for the Best Photography Book of the Year Award, a recognition that highlights its remarkable artistic and conceptual quality.
In addition, the book project has extended into the exhibition space, allowing the artist to continue exploring the multiple possibilities of the image. Her work has been presented in institutions and festivals such as Sala Kursala (Cádiz), Lumínic Festival (Sant Cugat), the 8th Mirades Festival (Girona), and Les Boutographies (Montpellier).
