“Iciar pursues various states situated between reality and fiction, exploring the very edge of self-portraiture in those bleak zones where the gaze captures more of what is foreign than what is one’s own. As if recognizing oneself in the features before us—features that inevitably resemble those of others—were somehow impossible. In this way, Iciar uses her body as the canvas upon which she portrays waiting, abandonment, and unrest, in a constant escape to nowhere, travelling light, yet laden with emotional burdens. It is a continuous search for emotional acrobatics within an inert body, which, like a found object, alludes to possible escapes that, this time, do speak of ourselves.”
