Artistic-academic director of BIENALSUR

Diana Wechsler holds a PhD in Art History and is a researcher at the National Council for Scientific and Technical Research (CONICET), as well as a curator. She directs the Instituto de Investigación de Arte y Cultura and the Master in Curatorial Studies at the Universidad Nacional de Tres de Febrero (UNTREF). Additionally, she serves as the Artistic Director of the museums at the same university and is a Professor at the University of Buenos Aires (UBA). In collaboration with Aníbal Jozami, she co-designed and currently serves as the Artistic Director of BIENALSUR, the international biennial of the South. She publishes essays in her speciality both nationally and internationally and conducts curatorial research in various museums and centers dedicated to modern and contemporary art. Furthermore, she directs the journal Estudios Curatoriales.

She has been awarded national and international research grants and fellowships, including the Getty Foundation Postdoctoral Fellowship, the International Art Critics Association’s Art Essays and Curatorial Awards, and the National Senate’s Scientific Production Award. Wechsler was also honored by the French Republic with the title of Chevalier des Palmes Académiques.
