Researcher

Ana Longoni (4 March 1967, La Plata – Buenos Aires, Argentina) is a CONICET researcher, writer, lecturer at the University of Buenos Aires and PhD in Art specialising in the intersection of art and politics in Latin America and, in particular, in Argentina from the mid-twentieth century to the present day. She is an undergraduate and postgraduate lecturer at the University of Buenos Aires and a visiting professor at the Independent Studies Programme (MACBA, Barcelona) and other universities.

She obtained her PhD in Art in 2005 from the University of Buenos Aires and specialised in studies on the intersections between art and politics in Latin America since the mid-twentieth century. Since its foundation in 2007, she has promoted the Red Conceptualismos del Sur, which brings together 25 researchers from various Latin American countries, focusing on the transformations of political action during the 1980s, in contexts of repression and violence; she is director of the ‘Grupo de Estudios sobre Arte, cultura y política en la Argentina reciente’, based at the Instituto de Investigaciones Gino Germani in the Social Sciences department of the Universidad de Buenos Aires, which brings together various research projects.​

She has curated the exhibitions «El deseo nace del derrumbe» (MNCARS, Madrid, 2011), «Perder la forma humana» (MNCARS, Madrid, 2012/ MALI, Lima, 2013 / MUNTREF Buenos Aires, 2014), «Con la provocación de Juan Carlos Uviedo» (MUAC, Mexico, 2015) and «Oscar Masotta, among others. La teoría como acción» (MUAC, Mexico, 2017 / MACBA, Barcelona, 2018)​. She has been a member of the Management Committee of the Universidad de las Artes (Guayaquil, Ecuador, 2015-2016) and was appointed Director of Public Activities of the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía (Madrid) in 2018. Author of numerous publications, including the books Del Di Tella a Tucumán Arde (2000), Traiciones (2007) and Vanguardia y revolución (2014). Two of her plays have been staged in Buenos Aires: «La Chira» (2003) and «Árboles» (2006).​
