ERNESTINA PEREYRA GALLO (Montevideo, 1980)

Visual artist and BA in Social Communication from the Catholic University of Uruguay. She studied art under visual artist and independent curator Gustavo Tabares from 2006 to 2014. She took part in art clinics with Alberto Lastreto and attended sessions with Jacqueline Lacasa focused on the development and conceptualisation of artistic projects (2018–2020). In 2020, she attended performance workshops led by artists and curators Valeria Píriz (UY), Fabricio Guaragna (UY) and Abel Azcona (ES). Between 2021 and 2022, she took part in further performance workshops led by Píriz, Guaragna, Ernesto Rizzo (UY) and Ana Aristimuño (UY). She also attended meetings with curator Víctor Albarracín Llanos (CO).

She studied Artistic Production Management at Fundación Itaú (2024), Curatorial Practices with Elisa Valerio (UY) at UCU (2025), and in 2026 took part in Curating from Practice with Mario Gutiérrez Cru (ES) at the Centro Cultural de España. She was a member of the artist collective Marte Centro Cultural and participated in the Pensión Cultural Milán project. She is currently a member of the artist collectives Noche de Performance, La Sal No Sala, Diez de Cada Diez and Artistxs Visuales del Sur.

In 2022, she launched Espacio de Prueba, an itinerant visual arts platform. Since 2008, she has participated in solo and group exhibitions in Uruguay and across the region. Her work is held in private collections in Uruguay. She lives and works in Montevideo.

ACERCA DE MI TRABAJO
Soy una artista visual contemporánea que trabaja desde 2008, desarrollando diferentes líneas de investigación. Mi práctica se deriva principalmente de un material no convencional: cabello y pelucas. Mi práctica actual está enfocada en la performance, desarrollando un cuerpo de obras en relación con la imposibilidad/dificultad que tienen las mujeres para hablar en foros públicos.
