Collector

Haro Cumbusyan is the creator and director of Collectorspace, a non-profit institution based in New York, whose first location was opened in Istanbul in September 2011. It is a small space, with an exhibition hall and a library open to the public which houses collectors’ books, international art magazines and other reading material for art lovers interested in the subject. On the other hand, Haro Cumbusyan, together with Bilge Ogut-Cumbusyan, has his own private collection of contemporary art, which began to materialize in the 2000s with a clear identity: the moving image and the works of the new media. Currently, a large part of Bilge & Haro Cumbusyan’s collection consists of video, film, animation, digital art and interdisciplinary works. Most of the works have been produced since the turn of the millennium, since one of the concerns of both collectors is to capture the innovations that are taking place in the art of our time. The Association Friends of ARCO in the 32nd edition of the ARCOmadrid fair granted them the Prize to the Collective Initiative. Since 2017, he has been part of the committee of the LOOP Barcelona Fair.
