Javier Velázquez Cabrero (Madrid, 1990), visual artist and dancer with a degree in Fine Arts from the Complutense University of Madrid, studying part of the degree in Germany, at the ABK in Stuttgart with Professor Christian Jankowski. In 2017/2018 he carried out a postgraduate study in Soma, Mexico City.
His work has been seen in group shows such as Rencontres Internationales Paris / Berlin 2020, For Once and Season 3 at The Center for the Less Good Idea (Johannesburg), Mostra Espanha at the Coimbra Biennial (Portugal); the Verbo Festival of the Vermelho Gallery (Sao Paulo) or in individual exhibitions such as The Communion of Tics, Gestures and Gestures in MartaMoriarty Artwindows (Madrid), The Silver Lake in Casa Maauad (Mexico), Zona Maco Nuevas Propuestas (duo) (Mexico ); o No Gesture is an Orphan at CCEMX (Mexico) with a video and performance program.
In 2018/2019 he carried out numerous residencies in South Africa, specifically at Nirox Foundation, Johannesburg; receiving different supports such as the Aid for production in Visual Arts of the C. de Madrid, the INJUVE Aid for artistic creation, the scholarships for residency abroad for artists and curators of the CAM, the Aid for Mobility PICE (AC / C) and a commission from The Center for the Less Good Idea, Johannesburg.
