Sarah Minter is one of the pioneers of video in Mexico, since 1981 she has made films, videos and video installations in 16 mm, among which are San frenesí, Nadie es Inocente, Mex. Metr, Alma Punk, El Aire de Clara and more recently Intervalos. Her work has been exhibited in various museums, galleries, universities, festivals, etc. mainly in America and Europe, among which MOMA, Museum of Modern Art of New York, Museum of the Bronx, NY stands out. Boston Museum of Contemporary Art, Haus der Kulturen der Welt, Berlin; Canal Plus in France, International Film and Video Festival of Havana, La Celda Contemporánea in Mexico, etc.

She has also made television series, art videos, and documentaries. She has collaborated for some European television networks. She has received various national and international awards and recognitions. Among those that stand out, the Choral Award at the Havana International Film Festival, the Pitirri Award at the San Juan Puerto Rico International Film Festival. Special award from the Berlin Film and Video Ethnographic Festival, Germany. Rulfo Award at the FilVideoFil Festival in Guadalajara, Mexico. etc.

She has been a member of the Rockefeller Foundation, the MacArthur Foundation, the Angelica Foundation, and the National Foundation for Culture and the Arts. She has also been a judge in the Rockefeller Foundation and Mac Arthur Foundation Media Arts program and the FONCA Young Creators Program, as well as various film and video festivals. She has been a curator at various national and international festivals as well as cultural foundations.

She was the founder and teacher of the Esmeralda video workshop at CENART (1996-2002) and has given numerous workshops and conferences.
In 2003 she did an artist residency in Berlin.

In 2006 she did an artist residency at Christiania The Free Town, in Copenhagen Denmark. She where she started the Multiverse project, about utopian communities.

Since August 2008 she has been part of the National System of Art Creators of FONCA with the projects Háblame de Amor, Pueblo Libre, and Nobody is Innocent 20 Years Later. This last project has also benefited from the FOPROCINE Quality Film Production Fund.
