Good Night

In the video «good night» a watercourse changes direction several times due to the closing of a gate in an adjacent river. This is made evident by the autumn leaves floating on its surface as if they were individuals dragged from their daily routine. On another level the trees reflected in the water provide a solid background to movement.

Silk handkerchiefs, cardboard boxes, cigarette ends
Or other testimony of summer nights. The nymphs are departed.

The moments when the water stops for a few instants before changing direction, are highlighted by the female voice of a character from the same poem by Eliot, who alludes to Ophelia of Shakespeare’s Hamlet, with the sentence that precedes his death: … good night sweet ladies, good night, good night.

The «good night» of Ophelia, between one flow and another, offers the possibility of awakening from the blind sleep.
