Lacan`s Assumption

A young woman reads a Portuguese cooking recipe with an extremely erotic voice. Later, only the crossed legs of a woman seated on a decayed office chair can be seen. She is wearing a black skirt and high heels, moving her legs and lightly rubbing them together. Then, in English, she tells us a story involving drawers, using accompanying figures. As she exits the scene, the camera follows her with great sensuality, finally showing her breathing in front of the sea, perhaps after swimming or lovemaking. “No one will know. The language is enrolled into the truth and transforms it,” she whispers. The installation of a mechanism of desire is implied.

The genesis of the work is referenced in the title itself, directly alluding to Jacques Lacan, the psychoanalyst who, in the seventies, postulated on the orders of the imaginary, symbolic, and real, focusing on the structuring effect of language.
