Sleeping machine II

Part of the installation titled Things go around (2011).

Presents a world unhinged, evokes a seductive nostalgia, with hidden inner corners inhabited only by older calculation machines, gears and other timepieces extracted from their usual structures moving on nighttime cityscapes. They turn and block in inexplicable ways along the rooms of an abandoned house, counting the slow and difficult steps that it takes to achieve the time. Both works are shown as metaphors for Sawa’s more personal inner space, represented by the very act of sleeping or remembering. The artist is not interested in the landscape or the everyday life as such but as a transcript of his memory.
