(n. 1992 China) Actualmente vive y trabaja en Beijing, Xi’an, Shanghai (triángulo dorado), China.
Las emociones sensibles siempre han sido la fuerza impulsora detrás de su inspiración. Yao Cong tiene la intención de construir un cuerpo de trabajo exquisito y convincente que reflexione críticamente sobre cómo el cuerpo y el paisaje se fabrican y deconstruyen hoy en día, cómo los compromisos individuales y colectivos hacen que lo político sea personal y circulan mediante el juego de la emoción, el juicio y la ética. Sus obras entrelazan y reconfiguran el motivo de la naturaleza y la civilización, la sexualidad y la política en una nueva estructura fluida e híbrida, y apuntan a la incertidumbre del deseo, la ansiedad y la autoridad. Crea obras inmersivas con estética nebulosa, poética y nítida por diversos medios como imagen en movimiento, instalación, fotografía, performance y pintura en constantes desarrollos y exploraciones.
Yao Cong nació en Xi’an en 1992. Recibió su licenciatura en Arte Intermedio de la Academia de Arte de China en 2014. En el mismo año, ganó la Beca Luo Zhongli al mejor artista joven graduado en la Gran China. Su maestría en Bellas Artes por el Royal College of Art, Londres, en 2017.

Sensitive emotions have always been the driving force behind his inspiration. Yao Cong intends to build an exquisite, compelling body of work that critically reflects on how body and landscape are manufactured and deconstructed today, how individual and collective engagements make the political personal and are circulated through by the gameplay of emotion, judgement and ethics. His works through interweaving and reconfiguring the motif of nature and civilization, sexuality and politics into a new fluid, hybrid structure, and point to the uncertainty of desire, anxiety and authority. He creates immersive works with hazy, poetic and sharp aesthetics by diverse media such as moving image, installation, photography, performance, and painting in constant developments and explorations.
Yao Cong was born in Xi’an in 1992. He received his BA in Intermedia Art from China Academy of Art in 2014, In the same year, he won the Luo Zhongli Scholarship for the best graduating young artist in Greater China. His MA in Fine Art from Royal College of Art, London, in 2017.
Yao Cong’s works are exhibited extensively, at venues such as Kunstmuseum Bonn, Germany; CICA museum, Korean; Mill Hall, Kerala, India; Centre for Art and Culture, Barcelona, Spain; Shanghai Himalayas Museum, China; Today Art Museum, Beijing, China; MOMAChengdu, Chengdu, China.
