Thomas Georg Blank y Isik Kaya (eeuu)
Işık Kaya is a lens-based media artist whose practice explores the ways in which humans shape thecontemporary landscape. She focuses on traces of economic infrastructures to examine politics in builtenvironments and how man’s dominance over nature finds its manifestation in everyday architecture. Inher work, she erases the physical distance in between existing structures and creates dense compilationsof industrial fragments to construct new landscapes that look both alien and familiar at the same time. Byframing her subjects exclusively at night, she aims to accentuate these artificial and uncanny qualities ofurban environments.Işık Kaya is an MFA candidate in Visual Arts at the University of California, San Diego. She has participatedin exhibitions at Royal Geographic Society (UK), Die Digitale Dusseldorf (Germany), Kunsthalle Darmstadt(Germany), CEAAC (France), Galerie de L’Escale (France), CICA Museum (Korea). and Soho Photo Gallery(USA) among others.
