Ricardo Carbonell i Saurí (esp)
Doctor, Sobresaliente Cum Laude, en «Teoría y Análisis cinematográfico» por la Universidad Complutense de Madrid; Licenciado en Bellas Artes y músico, becado por la AIE durante tres años, Mención de Honor de Armonía y de Contrapunto. Empieza sus estudios cinematográficos creando en 1993 la Compañía Independiente de cine de animación «El Gandul» con la que dirige y produce cortometrajes en Super 8. Uno de ellos, «El porquet«, gana varios premios de animación en Madrid y Barcelona, y se presenta el año 1998 en el Festival Internacional de cine de Sitges.
Se diploma en Realización cinematográfica en la escuela Microobert de Barcelona y en Dirección en la Escuela de cine de Madrid (ECAM), y con Bigas Luna, formando parte de su taller de jóvenes realizadores. Colabora en cortos en 35mm, como ayudante de dirección, ayudante de montaje o de dirección artística, premiado uno de ellos en la Biennale de Venecia. Entre los años 1998-2001 colabora con TV Cardedeu. Los años 2001/2002 escribe críticas de cine en la revista especializada «Los Olvidados», nominada a la mejor labor periodística en los premios del Círculo de Escritores Cinematográficos 2002.
Codirige el largometraje documental 200 km, seleccionado en la 51ª edición del Festival de Cine de San Sebastián 2003, y estrenado en salas comerciales, ganando el Golden Gate al mejor guión documental en el San Francisco Film Festival. Su cortometraje Don Giovanni, gana el Golden Chord Award (Best Music Film) en el «Cosí fan tutte» VIENNA Short Film Competition 2006, y Patarei Prison, el Best Experimental Film en «In The Palace» Film Festival 2016 de Sofia, Bulgaria.
De entre más de cien Festivales, su obra se ha exhibido además en el Centre Pompidou de Paris, en la Seminci de Valladolid, la Transmediale de Berlin, el Festival de cine Fantástico de Sitges, en Cityzooms de Bremen, en Documentamadrid, en Up and Coming Film Festival de Hannover, el Sounding Images de Pasadena en EEUU, el Santa Fe Film Festival, en el Stuttgarter Filmwinter, el Festival Internacional de Jóvenes Realizadores de Granada, el Fest. Int. de Documentales de Barcelona «Docupolis», el Fest. Int. de cine de Alcalá de Henares, o el Fest. Int. de cine independiente de Barcelona «l’Alternativa», y se ha emitido por TV.
Ha recibido clases magistrales de Bigas Luna, Abbas Kiarostami, Christopher Doyle, Víctor Erice, Joaquim Jordá, José Luis Cuerda, Juan Madrid, y asistido a conferencias de David Lynch,Terry Gilliam, Arthur Penn, Amos Gitai, Abel Ferrara, Barbet Schroeder, Lasse Hallstrom, Maurice Jarre, Roland Topor, Manoel de Oliveira, Jonas Mekas, Javier Aguirre, Jirí Menzel, Pere Portabella…
Actualmente Ricard Carbonell es Profesor Universitario de Grado y Master en el Centro de Artes TAI, centro adscrito a la Universidad Rey Juan Carlos de Madrid.
Doctor, Outstanding Cum Laude, in «Film Theory and Analysis» from the Complutense University of Madrid; Bachelor of Fine Arts and musician, awarded by the AIE for three years, Honorable Mention in Harmony and Counterpoint. He began his film studies creating in 1993 the Independent Animated Film Company «El Gandul» with which he directed and produced short films in Super 8. One of them, «El Porquet», won several animation awards in Madrid and Barcelona, and was presents the year 1998 at the Sitges International Film Festival.
He graduated in Filmmaking at the Microobert school in Barcelona and in Directing at the Madrid Film School (ECAM), and with Bigas Luna, as part of his workshop for young filmmakers. He collaborates in 35mm shorts, as assistant director, assistant editor or artistic director, one of them awarded at the Venice Biennale. Between 1998-2001 he collaborated with TV Cardedeu. In 2001/2002 he wrote film reviews for the specialized magazine «Los Olvidados», nominated for the best journalistic work at the 2002 Cinematographic Writers Circle Awards.
He co-directs the documentary feature 200 km, selected at the 51st edition of the 2003 San Sebastian Film Festival, and premiered in commercial theaters, winning the Golden Gate for best documentary script at the San Francisco Film Festival. His short film Don Giovanni, wins the Golden Chord Award (Best Music Film) at the «Cosí fan tutte» VIENNA Short Film Competition 2006, and Patarei Prison, the Best Experimental Film at «In The Palace» Film Festival 2016 in Sofia, Bulgaria.

Ricard Carbonell is currently a University Professor of Undergraduate and Master’s degrees at the TAI Arts Center, a center attached to the Rey Juan Carlos University of Madrid.
