RAWAND HARESS

Rawand Haress es un cineasta independiente. Su uso de películas digitales como medio tiene el propósito de arrojar luz sobre las minorías cuyas voces no son lo suficientemente fuertes como para ser escuchadas. Su trabajo plantea preguntas en relación con la identidad cultural, los problemas mentales y los problemas sociopolíticos en la región árabe. Durante esta exposición se proyectarán dos videos, Dehia y Amskkar. El primero lleva al espectador a un viaje por los días dorados de los amazigh y el presente y el futuro desconocido de las generaciones amazigh. Este último se ocupa de la incómoda sensación de no pertenecer a ningún lugar a pesar de la nacionalidad, la edad, el color, el sexo o la raza. También toca las luchas psicológicas, cuando la mente está como en casa, pero se convierte en otro lugar inquieto para estar.

Rawand Haress is an independent film maker. Her usage of digital films as a medium serves the purpose of shedding light on the minorities whose voices are not loud enough to be heard. Her work raises questions in relation to cultural identity, mental issues, and the socio-political issues in the Arab region. Two videos, Dehia and Amskkar, will be screened during this exhibition. The former takes the viewer on a journey of the golden days of the Amazigh and the present and the unknown future of the Amazigh generations. The latter deals with the discomforting feeling of not belonging anywhere despite one’s nationality, age, color, sex or race. It also touches upon the psychological struggles, when the mind is like home, but becomes another restless place to be.
