Raúl Valverde es un artista multimedia español afincado en Nueva York. Sus instalaciones, videos y obras de arte generadas por computadora se encuentran en la intersección de los medios digitales, la fotografía y la arquitectura.
Su serie «La luz del sol entra en los museos, 2030» simula cómo la luz del sol entrará en diversos museos de arte en el futuro 50 cumpleaños del artista. Su proyecto Bienal de Cartagena de Indias “Paisaje Adaptado” –otro espacio ilusionista– es un paisaje mediterráneo ubicado en la costa caribeña. Del mismo modo, las imágenes digitales de Valverde “DRP” traducen en gráficos cromáticos la evolución natural de Regent’s Park en Londres, al tiempo que reflexionan sobre las múltiples variables involucradas en el proceso de percepción de nuestro entorno.
Raul Valverde is a Spanish multimedia artist based in New York. His installations, videos, and computer-generated artworks are situated at the intersection of digital media, photography, and architecture.
His “Sunlight Entering Museums, 2030” series simulates how the sunlight will enter diverse art museums on the artist’s future 50th birthday. His Cartagena de Indias Biennial project “Paisaje Adaptado”–another illusionist space–is a Mediterranean landscape placed on the Caribbean coast. Similarly, Valverde’s digital images “DRP” translate into chromatic charts the natural evolution of Regent’s Park in London, while reflecting on the multiple variables involved in the process of perceiving our surroundings.
Raul Valverde received a BFA from Complutense University of Madrid, an MA from Central Saint Martins, London, and an MFA from School of Visual Arts, New York. He is a recipient of the Fulbright Scholarship and an Artist In The Marketplace Fellow at the Bronx Museum of the Arts. A former artist resident of the International Studio & Curatorial Program (ISCP) in Brooklyn, NYC, his work has been exhibited at the #1 Cartagena Biennial, Colombia; Bronx Calling: The Second AIM Biennial, New York; La Casa Encendida, Madrid; NURTUREart, Brooklyn; Tabacalera, Madrid; Artium Museum, Vitoria-Gasteiz; Anthology Film Archives, New York; Instituto Cervantes, Milan; Círculo de Bellas Artes de Madrid; and Royal College of Art, London, among others. Valverde teaches at the Fine Arts Department, School of Visual Arts, New York.
