«OTIS. Vertical tales – 13th floor» es un homenaje al inventor del ascensor, Otis Elisha Graves, quien presentó su original dispositivo en forma de gran espectáculo durante la Feria Universal de Nueva York a mediados del siglo XIX.
Si por un lado el ascensor representó el empuje vertical más revolucionario de los horizontes urbanos, por otro lado los sonidos en bucle de la composición electrónica aportan a la obsesión modular del movimiento de un ascensor aprisionado en el recorrido repetitivo entre sus plantas. Esta obra forma parte de una obra mayor desarrollada por Økapi entre 15 plantas.
En este caso el ascensor se detiene en el piso trece.
«OTIS. Vertical tales – 13th floor» is a tribute to the inventor of the elevator, Otis Elisha Graves who presented his original device in the form of a big show during the New York Universal Fair in the mid-nineteenth century.
If on the one hand the elevator represented the most revolutionary vertical thrust of urban horizons, on the other hand the looped sounds of the electronic composition bring to the modular obsessiveness of the movement of an elevator imprisoned in the repetitive journey between its floors. This work is part of a larger work developed by Økapi among 15 floors.
In this case the lift stops on the thirteenth floor.
